How to burn sage

1. Before you light up, remember to open a door or window as the unwanted energy you are trying to clear must have a pathway to get out.
2. Once you're ready to light your sage, grab the sage from the end.Hold it at a 45-degree angle, let it burn for about 20 seconds and then gently blow out the flame so that you see orange embers on one end. Start at the front door of your home. Then, begin to move around the home.

3. Move mindfully and with care, walking clockwise around.Be sure to allow the smoke to drift into even the hidden spaces, like inside closets, basements and dark corners.

4. If it feels okay to you, it is helpful to recite a prayer or a mantra that you’re connected to. This is a way to fill the space with more cleansing vibrations.
5. After cleansing, extinguish your sage stick by gently pressing it into a ceramic plate or shell. You can also allow it to burn out on its own.
